FAQs
Can you use kerosene in a diesel heater?

Whether you can use kerosene in a diesel heater depends on the specific model. Some models offer dual-fuel capabilities that support both kerosene and diesel fuel, but using kerosene in a diesel model that is not compatible can damage the fuel system, reduce heat output and increase safety hazards. Talk to a United Rentals expert to determine if your rental model is compatible with kerosene.

Can you safely use diesel heaters indoors?

Yes, diesel heaters are generally safe to use indoors. Maximize indoor safety by ensuring adequate ventilation, installing a carbon monoxide detector close by and keeping any other heat sources, open flames or flammable materials away from the heater. To reduce safety risks, do not leave heaters on unattended.

How long can you run a diesel heater?

The run time of a diesel heater depends on several factors, including the specific model's fuel tank capacity, consumption rate and fuel efficiency. Generally, you can calculate how long you can run a diesel heater by dividing the heater's fuel tank capacity by the fuel consumption rate. For example, a diesel heater with a 10-gallon fuel tank and consumption rate of 0.5 gallons per hour can run for approximately 20 hours (10 gallons ÷ 0.5 gallons per hour = 20 hours).
