Our one-person lifts for rent are reliable, portable and simple to operate for construction and maintenance jobs like electrical work and ceiling repairs. These vertical lifts, also known as man lifts or personnel lifts, can reach up to 48 feet for indoor maintenance, painting, inspection and other jobs. Their narrow width allows the lifts to pass through a standard doorway, and the “X” placement, or outriggers, will fit in tight work areas. From electric vertical masts to pusharound vertical mast lifts, these lifts are convenient and easily moveable around your worksite. What's the difference between a vertical lift and a pusharound lift?

A vertical lift is a type of aerial work platform designed for tight, vertical lifting, ensuring mobility in small spaces. A push-around lift is a subcategory within vertical lifts, where the lift is moved to its final destination before extending its platform.

How high can a one-person mast lift go?

The height of a vertical lift, also known as a single-man lift, varies by model and classification. The maximum height of a vertical mast lift is 48 feet when fully extended.

Are safety harnesses required on a man lift or platform?

A harness is not required on a man lift or aerial work platform as long as the guardrails meet OSHA regulations as adequate fall protection.

United Rentals offers vertical mast lifts that come in pusharound and electric, self-propelled models to get workers up close to the work.

Electric-powered vertical mast lifts won’t damage floors or emit exhaust and are excellent for relatively low-height, indoor maintenance jobs in tight work areas.

Pusharound vertical lifts are compact, versatile and offer excellent maneuverability, but must be manually moved around the worksite.

With small footprints, easy maneuverability and a tight or zero-degree turn radius, personnel lifts are perfect for tight spaces.

Vertical mast lifts have a load capacity that ranges from 300 pounds up to 500 pounds.

Where to use a vertical lift

8-foot to 15-foot electric-powered vertical mast lifts are ideal for indoor work and are designed to fit in narrow spaces, such as doorways, freight elevators and in between tight racks. Although these lifts work well indoors, they can also be used for outdoor projects.

20-foot pusharound vertical mast lifts with narrow platforms are handy for performing certain types of ceiling work without removing the ceiling grid.

Single-person lifts are also often used for painting and lighting work, warehouse stock picking and work in churches and offices.
