Matthew J. Flannery
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Flannery was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of United Rentals, and was elected as a director of the Company, in May 2019, while remaining as President, a position he has held since March 2018. From April 2012 until March 2018, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Flannery has extensive experience in all areas of the Company’s operations, having previously served as Executive Vice President—Operations and Sales, Senior Vice President—Operations East and in two regional vice president roles in aerial operations. Mr. Flannery has also served as a district manager, district sales manager and branch manager of the Company. Mr. Flannery joined the Company in 1998 as part of the Company’s acquisition of Connecticut-based McClinch Equipment. Mr. Flannery graduated from Hofstra University. Mr. Flannery has over three decades of sales, management and operations experience in the rental industry, including a number of senior management positions with the Company. He has extensive experience and knowledge in all areas of the Company’s operations and of the competitive environment in which the Company operates. Further, he has demonstrated strategic, operational and financial acumen that the Board believes has been of significant value to the Company.
Michael Durand
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Michael Durand was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in September 2023, after previously serving as Senior Vice President – Sales and Operations since 2020 and Senior Vice President – Operations since 2015. Mr. Durand joined United Rentals in 2002 as a branch manager and has held roles of increasing scope through the present day, including district manager, regional sales and marketing director, region vice president, and his prior role of senior vice president of sales and operations. Mr. Durand has been an integral leader across all aspects of sales and operations at United Rentals, including the company’s go-to-market strategy, large acquisition integrations, operations strategy, and operational excellence. He has built strong and enduring relationships within United Rentals and its customer base over his more than two decade career. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Durand spent several years in sales and operations leadership roles with other industrial companies. Mr. Durand holds a BA in Geology from Lawrence University.
William "Ted" Grace
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
William “Ted” Grace was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of United Rentals in November 2022, after having served as the Company’s Interim Chief Financial Officer since July 2022. In his current role, Mr. Grace is responsible for oversight of the Company’s accounting, treasury, risk management and financial planning and analysis departments. He previously served as the Company’s Vice President of Investor Relations, since joining the Company in 2016, with responsibility for managing all aspects of communications between the Company’s leadership, its investors and the broader financial community. Since joining the Company, he has been an integral member of the senior corporate finance leadership team contributing across financial planning and analysis, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and capital allocation. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Grace spent over 20 years in financial services, most recently as a research analyst at Susquehanna International Group covering the industrial machinery and building materials sectors. He previously held the same responsibilities at Avondale Partners and Goldman Sachs & Co. Earlier in his career, he served in the investment banking departments of predecessor organizations at Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Mr. Grace holds BA degrees in economics and political science from Bucknell University and an M.B.A. from Cornell University.
Craig A. Pintoff
Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer
Mr. Pintoff was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer in March 2017, with current responsibility for leading the Company’s Human Resources, Safety, Information Technology, and Legal functions, after previously serving as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Human Resources since January 2016. Mr. Pintoff has led the United Rentals human resources team since 2005, first as Vice President, then, from April 2011 to March 2017, as Senior Vice President, and since March 2017, as Executive Vice President. He joined United Rentals in 2003 as Director—Legal Affairs. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Pintoff was chief benefits and employment counsel for Crompton Corporation in Connecticut. Previously, he was an attorney for White & Case LLP in Manhattan. Mr. Pintoff holds a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law.

Senior Vice President – West Division
Robert Bower is the Senior Vice President - West Division. Previously, he was promoted to vice president – national accounts in 2014, and has more than a decade of experience in the equipment rental industry. During his tenure, he has held various leadership positions with increasing responsibility to include: branch and district manager, integration team lead, and most recently, region sales and marketing director for the pacific west region.
Chris A. Burlog
Senior Vice President – Central Division
Chris Burlog is the Senior Vice President - Central Division. Previously, he was promoted to Vice President - Midwest Region in 2009, eight years after joining United Rentals as district manager. Following 7 years as a successful DM, Chris was promoted to the position of RSMM for the Rocky Mountain Region, where he achieved great success in Key Customer and New Account growth. Chris also contributed in a key leadership role as a project leader in Operation United and proved to be a strong voice for the field during the project. Chris graduated with a Marketing degree from Minot State University and has a strong background in the equipment rental industry, having started his rental career as an industrial sales rep and soon becoming the sales manager of Butler Machinery, a Caterpillar dealer based in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Michael G. Cloer
Senior Vice President – Business Operations
Michael Cloer was appointed Senior Vice President- Business Operations in 2023, having previously served as Senior Vice President- Operations South Division since 2019. In his current role Mr. Cloer is responsiblemfor the Company’s Operations Excellence strategy, Service and Maintenance, Supply Chain and Fleet.
Mr. Cloer has held various sales and leadership roles since joining the Company in 1997, including National Accounts Manager, Branch Manager, District Sales Manager, District Manager and Regions Sales Director.
He was appointed Region Vice President Mid-Atlantic Region in 2014 and held various Region Vice President roles before being named Senior Vice President- Operations South Division in 2019.
Prior to joining United Rentals, Michael started in the industry at Prime Equipment and holds a BS in Marketing from Florida Southern College.
Joli Gross
Senior Vice President - Chief Legal & Sustainability Officer, Corporate Secretary
Ms. Gross serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal & Sustainability Officer, Corporate Secretary of the Company, a title she has held since January 2024. Ms. Gross is also executive sponsor of Planet United, the Company’s employee resource group focused on sustainability. She previously served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Sustainability Officer from June 2023 to January 2024 and, prior to that, as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary from May 2017 to June 2023. From 2002 through 2017, Ms. Gross held various other positions in United Rentals’ legal department. Prior to joining the Company, she was an associate with the law firm of Day, Berry & Howard, specializing in commercial real estate and contracts, and an associate with Edwards & Angell, specializing in civil litigation. Ms. Gross holds a Juris Doctor from the New England School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University, and a Certificate in Business Excellence from the Columbia University Business School. Since August 2021, Ms. Gross has served as a director of GXO Logistics and is the Chair of GXO’s Nominating, Corporate Governance and Sustainability Committee. Additionally, Ms. Gross serves on the board of Family Centers, a nonprofit organization offering education, health and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County, Connecticut; and on the board of Mystic Aquarium.
Thomas P. Jones
Senior Vice President — Site Solutions Division
Tom Jones is the Senior Vice Presidnet - Site Solutions. Previously, he was promoted to vice president of field sales in 2014, 14 years after joining United Rentals as a district manager. Previously he held region vice president roles in the Southeast, and most recently the Mid-Atlantic region for the combined organization. Tom has over two decades of experience in the equipment rental industry, beginning with Hertz Equipment Rental, Inc. in 1990. He also had a two-year tenure with AMECO as vice president of North America and Caribbean Operations.
Anthony S. Leopold
Senior Vice President – Strategy & Digital
Tony Leopold was promoted to Senior Vice President, Strategy and Digital in August 2021, after previously serving as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development since June 2019. Mr. Leopold initially joined the Company as Vice President, Business Innovation and Efficiency in September 2010 and held a variety of leadership roles in business development, merger integration, operational excellence, and innovation through March 2017. Mr. Leopold also has held roles as SVP of US Products at Elevate Credit, Inc., and Manager at Bain & Company where he began his career in 1999. Mr. Leopold holds a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University.
Kenneth B. Mettel
Senior Vice President — Performance Analytics
Kenneth Mettel became senior vice president, performance analytics in December 2014. Prior to that, he held the role of senior vice president, planning and analysis, beginning in April 2011. Earlier, he served as the company's vice president-strategy and planning. Prior to joining United Rentals in 2001, Mr. Mettel held senior management positions with International Paper as vice president, strategic planning, and with Unilever as director of financial analysis. His previous experience includes five years as finance manager, U.S. Toys with Mattel, Inc.
Kevin C. Parr
Senior Vice President – Northeast and Mobile Storage Division
Kevin Parr was named senior vice president – operations in 2013. He has more than 30 years of industry experience, first with UpRight, Inc., and then with Horizon Equipment, a business of W.R. Carpenter North America. He joined United Rentals in 2000 upon the company’s acquisition of Horizon, initially serving as fleet manager for the Aerial East Region, and subsequently as district manager, region sales and marketing manager, region vice president – Aerial East, and vice president – Northeast Region
Joseph W. Pledger
Senior Vice President — Finance
Joe Pledger was promoted to Senior Vice President, Finance in January 2021. Since joining United Rentals in 1998, he has served as district controller, region controller, Senior Director, Planning and Analysis and most recently Vice President, Operations Finance. Mr. Pledger is a certified public accountant. Prior to joining United Rentals he served as an audit manager with KPMG. Mr. Pledger earned a Master’s degree in Accounting and B.S. in Business (magna cum laude) from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
David C. Scott
Senior Vice President – Specialty Division
David was named vice president of the Power & HVAC Region in 2012, after joining the Company in 2010 as Region Operations Manager for the Power & HVAC business. He was previously Division Manager for Hertz Energy Services. David has over 20 years of industry experience with roles in sales and operations. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Sales, Distribution, and Marketing Operations from Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

Eddie King was named senior vice president, operations for the South Division in 2023, and has more than two decades of experience in the equipment rental industry. During his tenure, he has held various leadership positions with increasing responsibility to include: branch and district manager, integration team & sales strategy responsibilities, and most recently, region sales and marketing director for the Gulf South Region.

Vice President — Planning & Analysis
Tomer Barkan was named Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis in 2017. Tomer joined United Rentals in 2005 as a Senior Business Analyst in the Business Development department. He was later promoted to Manager, Business Development in 2007 and Director, Planning & Analysis in 2009. In his expanded role, Tomer is responsible for Corporate financial planning, forecasting and reporting, executive and board level analysis & communication, and financial support for M&A activity.
Prior to joining United Rentals he held various consulting positions both in Israel and the US. Tomer holds an Industrial Engineering & Management degree from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and an MBA from New York University – Stern School of Business.

John Fahey brought more than 15 years of financial executive experience to United Rentals when he joined the company in 2005 as vice president - assistant corporate controller. In 2006, he assumed the additional role of principal accounting officer. In 2008, Mr. Fahey was appointed vice president - controller and, in that role, continued to serve the company as principal accounting officer. In December 2014, he became vice president, financial planning & analysis. In July 2016, Mr. Fahey was appointed vice president – internal audit. His prior experience includes senior positions as manager - corporate business development for Xerox Corporation; vice president and chief financial officer for Xerox Engineering Systems, Inc.; and vice president - finance and controller for Faulding Pharmaceutical Company. Mr. Fahey is a licensed certified public accountant who previously served as a general practice manager in accounting and auditing for Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Daniel Higgins brought two decades of experience to United Rentals when he joined the company in 2006 as vice president - IT corporate services. His expertise in leading information technology functions for Fortune 500 companies includes positions as IT senior director of strategy, planning, and risk management, as well as IT director of performance management systems, for Pepsi Bottling Group. Previously, Mr. Higgins was senior group manager of corporate financial systems for PepsiCo.

Mr. Holder was promoted to Vice President – Total Rewards in 2018, after serving as Director of Compensation and Benefits. Prior to joining United Rentals, he held human resources, compensation and benefits roles with RSC Equipment Rental, O’Reilly Auto Parts, CSK Auto, and the US Department of Agriculture. Mitchell holds a BS in Business Administration from Montana State University and an MBA from Arizona State University.

Brent Kuchynka is Vice President of Corporate Fleet management. Previously, he has held past positions as region vice president in the Canadian region, the Gulf Coast region and the Western region. Brent has more than 20 years of experience in the equipment rental industry. He began his career in 1994 with Valley Rentals, which was later acquired by RSC. During his tenure, he has occupied positions in branch operations, division project manager, sales management and regional management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration in management from the University of Arizona.

Vice President Controller and Principal Accounting Officer
Mr. Limoges was promoted to Vice President-Controller and Principal Accounting Officer in October 2018, after previously serving as director of accounting and finance since joining the Company in April 2017. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Limoges was group controller of DMGT US from August 2016 to April 2017 and worked within the financial audit practice of Ernst & Young from July 2003 to July 2016, where he led teams that served a wide variety of public and private companies. Mr. Limoges, who is a certified public accountant, received a degree in business administration from the University of Vermont.

Todd was named vice president of the Trench Safety Region in 2012, after joining the Company in 1999 as part of the Shoring and Supply acquisition. Todd has over 20 years of progressively responsible experience in the construction equipment industry, including 16 years in the trench safety business. He began his career with United Rentals as a Branch Manager for trench locations Omaha, NE and Des Moines, IA. He then served as District Sales Manager and District Manager for United Rentals Trench Safety. Todd earned a BA in Business Administration from Bellevue University in Nebraska.

John was named vice president of the Northeast Region in 2013. He joined United Rentals in 1998, with the acquisition of McClinch Equipment Company. John has over 27 years of industry experience, starting in Outside Sales, promoted to District Sales Management and has held the position of Tri State District Manager with United Rentals since 1999. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.

Kevin has a Bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Kansas.

Audwin was named Vice President-South Region in 2021. He started in the equipment rental industry in March 1996 as an ISR. Audwin has held many positions in his 25+ year career to include Branch Manager, District Sales Manager, District Manager, Director, as well as Owner. Audwin joined the United Rentals family in 2011 and held position of Director, Operational Excellence prior to being promoted to VP-South Region.

Prior to his promotion to the RVP position, he held the role of Director of Operations for the Fluid Solutions North area beginning in October 2019.

Larry was named Region Vice President - Power & HVAC in 2019, and has over 29 years of rental industry experience. He began his career with United Rentals in 2006 as a Branch Manager for Power & HVAC locations on the East Coast in Baltimore, MD and Philadelphia, PA. He then served as District Manager for the Southwest and the Northwest Power & HVAC Districts. Most recently, he lead the Power & HVAC Climate and Electrical Solutions vertical expansion, and held the role of Director of Operational Excellence before being promoted to the RVP position.
