A road plate is a large, flat plate that temporarily covers potholes and rough terrain to allow for traffic, pedestrians or heavy machinery to safely cross over. They can also be used to protect jobsites and prevent damage to equipment.

How heavy is a steel road plate?

The weight of a steel road plate varies based on the size and thickness of the plate. Plates that are 1 to 2 inches thick and 5 by 8 feet can weigh approximately 1,650 pounds, while plates that are 8 by 20 feet can weigh a little more than 6,500 pounds.
