The requirements for ADA compliance include handicap signage, grab bars and the toilet’s flush lever being located on the open side. Other requirements consider the spacing necessary around the toilet, such as having 60 inches of clearance to turn a wheelchair. To give ample room for someone in a wheelchair to access the sink, there should be a knee clearance of 27 by 30 inches wide and 11 to 25 inches deep. For more information, visit the U.S. Access Board’s page on ADA Accessibility Standards.
Five percent of your toilets need to be ADA accessible. In other words, one out of every 20 portable restrooms on your jobsite or at your event need to be ADA compliant.
While a wheelchair-accessible porta potty addresses the needs of wheelchair users, an ADA portable toilet rental is designed to meet a broader spectrum of accessibility requirements, ensuring that individuals with various disabilities can safely use the facility.
