Yes, some propane heaters can be used indoors; however, this depends entirely on the type of propane heater you are considering. Be sure to check with the equipment manufacturer to ensure your propane heater is rated for indoor use.
You can calculate how much propane a heater will use based on its BTU rating. For our purposes, we'll say the BTU rating is 100,000. First, you'll want to consider the heater’s consumption rate, which is 91,500 BTUs per gallon for propane. Once you've done that, divide the consumption rate by the heater’s BTU rating, so 91,500 BTUs divided by 100,000 equals 0.915 gallons per hour. Apply this formula to any other propane heater to find the propane rate per hour.
Using propane in a heater designed to run on natural gas can lead to damage and safety hazards. Talk to the United Rentals experts about your heating solutions to learn more.
