FAQs About Dies for Sale

What is die threading?

  • Die threading is an industrial-based process for cutting thread lines into cylindrical objects (usually piping material) for the connective fastening or sealing of two separate pipes. This process can be performed automatically or manually.

How do you cut threads with a die?

  • To cut threads with a die, stabilize a smooth pipe or cylindrical object in the machine’s vice or gripping mechanism. Next, maneuver the gripping device forward. This will catalyze the rotational movement of the die around the end of the piping, which creates external threads.

What are the different types of die heads?

  • The different types of die heads are CH style, which can be used on manual machinery but isn’t ideal for automatic machinery; CHS style, which has a shank sprung to its body, making it ideal for automatic machinery; DX style, ideal for producing shorter threads in softer materials; and Coventry style, which is designed so cutting is only performed on the first full tooth. Before selecting a die head, it’s best to ensure that you have the right type for your specific job task.
