FAQs

What is the difference between No. 1 and No. 2 diesel fuel?

  • No. 1 diesel fuel is typically considered the premium diesel fuel choice with added lubricants and fuel additives that help clean the system. This fuel is also known to perform better in cold temperatures. No. 2 diesel fuel is more commonly available, doesn’t burn as quickly and is typically less expensive than No. 1 diesel fuel.

Can I use red diesel in a generator?

  • Yes. Red diesel can be used for engines that power off-road vehicles and construction equipment like bulldozers but using it for street-operated vehicles is not advised.

What is the difference between an alternator and a generator?

  • A generator converts mechanical energy into either AC or DC electrical energy and can generate either alternating or direct current. An alternator converts mechanical energy into AC energy.
