FAQs About Shackles

United Rentals carries lifting shackles for rent for all your towing, tie-down, hoisting and pulling applications. Our inventory contains anchor shackles, used for side pulling and connecting various components. For industrial lifting and pulling applications, we also offer screw pin shackles that are suited for industrial applications requiring quick assembly and disassembly. Choosing the right shackle can be challenging, so make sure you factor in the working load limit and the angle of the attachment before doing any lifting or moving.

FAQs
Can you side load a shackle?

This depends on the type of shackle you have. For instance, screw pin shackles are designed for side loading, as well as more versatile pick-and-place rigging. Other shackles can be designed for more in-line weight application and are not capable of safely holding a side load.

Can you rig shackle to shackle?

Yes, rigging shackle to shackle is a very common, safe and stable technique. It is advised to rig either bow-to-bow or bow-to-pin, never pin-to-pin.
