Air hoses come in a wide variety of sizes, materials, lengths and fits. Air hoses are measured by their internal diameter and commonly feature standard sizes of ¼”, ⅜” or ½” or metric sizes of 6mm, 8mm or 10mm. For reference, air tools that require 1-3 CFM usually work well with a 7mm hose, while 4-5 CFM works better with a larger hose, like 10mm. Compatible sizes are usually listed in the manufacturer specifications. Additionally, one must consider air hose material, type, length and fit. Need more help?
