In Vauvert, in the South of France, Kemone required a safe and efficient solution to clean and refill several old salt ponds that had been inactive for years. The cleaning process generated large volumes of salt and wastewater containing sediments and impurities, which needed to be recovered, treated, and where possible reused. To support this operation, the customer needed a system capable of managing complex fluid flows, ensuring safe on-site conditions, and maintaining continuous performance throughout the project.
The Challenge
Before the ponds could be refilled, the basins first had to be cleaned, and all resulting wastewater had to be handled safely and in line with environmental requirements. This meant:
- Recovering and transferring saltwater from the cleaning process
- Removing sediments and impurities efficiently
- Providing the option to reuse treated water to minimise waste
- Ensuring a stable and reliable power supply in a remote area of the site
- Maintaining safe operations throughout the project
The site required a solution that combined fluid management, filtration, power distribution, and safety designed for continuous operation under challenging conditions.
“The integrated setup helped us maintain safe and continuous operations throughout the cleaning process.”
The Solution
A fully integrated installation was designed and implemented to support Kemone’s cleaning process and ensure controlled water management on site.
- 6" stainless steel industrial electric pump
- Two 70 m³ lined storage tanks for temporary buffering
- Dual bag filtration system to remove sediments
- 2" electric submersible pump for clean water reinjection
The system operated in two modes:
- Transfer to a settling basin for disposal
- Closed loop reinjection of filtered water to support sustainable cleaning cycles
- 40 kVA and 125 kVA generators
- 1,000 L fuel tank
- 32A and 63A distribution boards
- Full cabling package
- Three lighting units for safe day-and-night operations
All components were installed, connected and tested on site to ensure safe, stable and uninterrupted operation.
The Results
The integrated solution provided Kemone with a safe and controlled process for managing all wastewater generated during the cleaning of the salt ponds. Thanks to the option for closed-loop water reuse, the approach reduced environmental impact while supporting efficient site operations. Reliable power supply and dedicated lighting ensured continuous and safe working conditions, and the coordinated installation allowed the project to progress without delays or disruptions.
Partnering for Success
The collaboration enabled Kemone to carry out the cleaning and refilling of the salt ponds safely, efficiently, and with reduced environmental impact. By combining water treatment, filtration, power supply, and on-site safety measures in a single coordinated system, the project supported stable operations throughout the entire process.
