Challenges

A water company reached out to United Rentals requiring a temporary dosing system while they upgraded their existing treatment works. The solution needed to include transferring chemicals from existing storage tanks to temporary storage tanks. It was critical to have a chemical delivery point that remained within a bunded area to ensure safety. Additionally, the site was still operational during the upgrade, which needed to be carefully considered to minimize disruption.

Solution

United Rentals provided a comprehensive solution by supplying duty standby dosing units, dual-contained hoses, and a dosing cabinet that facilitated seamless communication with the customer's existing systems. The solution included a 30 m³ double-wall poly tank with 150 meters of UPE hoses leading to the chemical delivery point, and heavy-duty road crossings were added for enhanced safety. Additionally, a 2” air-operated pump was stationed on-site for efficient chemical transfer.

Benefit

The delivered integrated solution allowed the customer to work with a single supplier, simplifying the process. The modular design of the system mirrored the permanent setup while offering flexibility to accommodate any design revisions. This approach ensured that site compliance was maintained during major works with minimal operational disruptions, allowing the upgrade to proceed smoothly.
