When a customer needed a temporary security booth for their facility, we were able to help. This Resolution Copper 14-by 28-foot modular guard shack comprises a single module booth. We built this modular guard shack with a steel perimeter frame atop a finished concrete slab. The prefabricated guard booth also features an aesthetically pleasing mono-pitch roof slope and 7/16-inch Smart Panel exterior walls. Finally, the portable security guard booth has two 6080 steel patio doors on each side of the building, and the front of the booth offers excellent visibility through a 6040 dual-glazed window.
Our client required an on-site modular locker room with shower facilities for their employees. We delivered this 840-square-foot modular locker room building, a preconstructed metal frame that sat on top of an existing building and was subsequently crane-lifted in sections. We dedicated half of the prefab building to employee lockers and benches, and the other half contained the shower area. This locker room building features a concealed sprinkler system in the ceiling, seven showers, four wall-hung sinks, two wall-mounted urinals, and two water closets with two water heaters. The interiors have commercial rolled floor surfaces and laminated fiberglass Kemlite covering the walls.
Located 3 miles northeast of the town of Kershaw in Lancaster County, South Carolina, a gold mine includes approximately 4,552 acres of land that over nearly two centuries has had multiple waves of mining activity. Today it is a whole new operation, with new facilities and equipment, constructed to make use of state-of-the-art technology and mining practices. The mining company needed temporary facilities while they constructed new operations offices. We provided them with a modular complex to house the engineering, administrative, contracting, operations and management team. Shown below are six buildings on site. Another ten buildings were set up throughout the location.
An energy company needed five custom 40’ containers to store electrical supplies throughout Wisconsin as they upgrade the electrical grid and substations. Starting with standard 40’ containers, each unit was modified with shelving, work tables, power, lighting and roll doors for easy access to tools, equipment and supplies.
This 9’-6” x 21’ custom steel guard house is located in the mountains of North Carolina at a brand new 560-megawatt natural gas power plant. A general contractor hired United Rentals to fabricate a guard house at the main entrance for personnel. Built with safety and energy efficiency in mind, the building consists of 4” thick steel walls, poly-iso foam core roof with mineral wool insulation, a 20-gauge insulated steel door, climate control system, sprinkler system and an ADA Bathroom with fixtures. The windows are 3’ x 3' with 1/4” tempered safety wire glass and are an integral part of the wall panel. The doors are 1-hour fire rated and the windows are 45-minute fire rated. The flooring is white marbled vinyl composite tile with 4” black vinyl cove molding. Keeping the surroundings in mind, the colors of the exterior were coordinated to match the color of the new facility being constructed at the site. The building required and met approval by the NCECC (North Carolina Energy Conservation Code.) Having the guard house built offsite, the risk of the general contractor’s own site personnel being injured was reduced, which saved them costs related to insurance, workers compensation and lost man hours.
A Wisconsin utility company needed a guard shack for an electric generation location. Made from a 10’ container, this unit was fitted with vertical and also horizontal sliding windows, a steel door with window and locks, HVAC unit, electricity and lighting. The container is easy to transport with forklift pockets located along the bottom of the container. This unit only took three weeks to produce.
A leader in on-site, gaseous nitrogen generation systems hired our team to produce several unique container modification projects across the U.S. One of six units, this modified container houses compressors and other equipment.
The client’s engineers provided the initial drawings and the United Rentals service team implemented the modifications to their specifications. Several meetings took place to work through the specifications due to the unique qualities of the ISO boxes. We have completed five other similar projects for this client, which have been shipped to California, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania.
The client has been impressed with our processes, quality workmanship and attention to detail and have verbally discussed additional opportunities for future projects. Many of our office locations have modification capabilities or mod shops and can take a normal shipping container and turn it into something special like the compressor equipment house above, or an administration building, service kiosk, work and tool shop, lounge area for employees, and more.
