From unloading new materials into a facility, to moving and storing inventory within a warehouse, to finished products eventually going out the door – materials of all kinds are constantly in motion across nearly every industry in America.

In this training course we will talk about some of the workplace hazards that employees might encounter while performing materials handling tasks on the job. We will also discuss the safe work practices used to avoid accidents and injuries while performing these tasks.

Workers who are adequately informed on materials handling safety will be able to better protect themselves and their coworkers at their facility. With a proper awareness of the hazards presented by handling and storing materials, nearly all materials handling accidents and injuries can be prevented.

By the end of this training session, you should be able to:

 

• Understand the hazards associated with improper, inadequate, or unsafe handling of materials.
• Safely lift and move various materials in the workplace, both manually and with the help of mechanical equipment.
• Recognize the proper techniques for safely stacking and storing materials in your facility.
• Follow your facility-specific general housekeeping procedures in order to keep you and your co-workers safe
