Hydrogen Sulfide is generated as a common by product of industrial and manufacturing processes. Hydrogen Sulfide is formed under low oxygen conditions when sufficient amounts of sulfur and bacteria are present.

The health effects of hydrogen sulfide depend on how much H2S a worker breathes and for how long. However, many effects are seen even at low concentrations. Effects range from mild, headaches or eye irritation, to very serious, unconsciousness and death.

Training Topics:

• Understand what hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is and where it is formed and found
• Be aware of the hazards of H2S
• Be able to identify H2S exposure limits
• Understand air monitoring and when it should be done
• Know the emergency escape procedures in the event of an H2S release

This training program focuses on the needs of the “end user”, and upon successful completion, will provide an updated operator's certificate and wallet card.
