Electrical Control Solutions for Mining
Mining environments may require power systems that range from 5MW to more than 100MW. The machinery required for mining is heavily inductive and burdens power generation and distribution. Testing of this infrastructure is critical for the safety of personnel and for potential monetary losses due to down time and repairs that could have been prevented through routine maintenance and benchmark testing. Additionally, capacitive load banks can be utilized to aid in offsetting the inductive-reactive load created by this machinery and resistive load banks to absorb regenerative load created by reciprocating machinery, which can often lead to damaging effects on power generation.
Portable Load Banks
Portable load banks allow for testing of critical areas of your mines. United Rentals load banks come in both Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled models.

Critical Mining Test Applications
A large mine needed to test their turbine for an emissions profile required by the Air Quality Management Department. The turbine provided electricity for the entire mine which enabled them to be completely islanded and isolated off the grid.
United Rentals was able to create an electrical solution of 40MW of load at 13.8mv. The entire project was rolled out, tested and completed in less than a month without any mechanical or electrical failures or issues.
