Let's build a better future, together.

Emissions Tracking Features

Innovative solutions for smarter, more sustainable decision-making

How Emissions Tracking Works

Source Pollutants

Source pollutant emission factors have been obtained from the CARB executive order based on engine EPA family, if available. Where a source emission factor is unknown, values are estimated by relationship to other factors. If source emission factors are entirely unknown for the engine family, values are estimated using the EPA standard based on year and horsepower.

Greenhouse Gases

Estimated fuel usage and a fuel type-dependent emission factor are used to provide an estimate of greenhouse gases. Fuel usage is estimated using horsepower, approximate engine efficiency, fuel density, EPA load factor and engine run-time. If horsepower is unknown, an estimate is used for the relevant cat-class.

Learn more about Total Control Emissions Tracking

Do I need to be a Total Control user to access this report?

Yes, customers need to have access to Total Control in order to download the report. If you would like to use the report but are not currently on Total Control, email the Total Control support team at [email protected].

How do I access the report?

To access the report, sign in to Total Control, go to the report tab and create an “Estimated GHG and Engine Emissions” report.

How is the information collected?

Information for the emissions is collected as follows:

  • Source pollutants: If available, source pollutant emission factors are obtained from the CARB executive order based on engine EPA family. Where a source emission factor is unknown, values are estimated by relationship to other factors. If source emission factors are entirely unknown for the engine family, values are estimated using the EPA standard based on year and horsepower.
  • Greenhouse Gas: Estimated fuel usage and a fuel type dependent emission factor are used to provide an estimate of GHG emission during the rental period.

Are there any additional considerations before using the report?

Yes, the report is only an estimate and is provided for informational purposes only. While we use EPA and CARB standards and emission factors to estimate greenhouse gas and source pollutant emissions, the results are subject to some assumption-based error and accuracy is not guaranteed. Customer should verify that the data and methodology meet applicable regulatory requirements before using this report or any information it contains for compliance reporting purposes.
