United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI) today announced that it will sponsor a Hurricane Preparedness Night in partnership with the Florida Marlins on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Dolphin Stadium.
The world's largest equipment rental company and the Miami-based Major League Baseball club will team up to tell fans how to prepare for hurricanes and other severe weather emergencies. The 2007 hurricane season officially begins on Friday, June 1.
Representatives from the company's general rentals, heavy equipment, aerial, and trench safety, pump and power regions, as well as members of its national accounts team, will be on hand for the event starting at 5:00 p.m. Wayland Hicks, chief executive officer for United Rentals, will take to the mound for the ceremonial first pitch.
Hicks said, "We are delighted to host our first Hurricane Preparedness Night with the support of the Florida Marlins. The almost unimaginable destruction caused by natural disasters in recent years has shown the importance of educating the general public about preparedness and recovery. Our company is at the forefront of developing processes to help communities and the government react effectively to natural disasters through partnerships with first responders, training and access to critical equipment."
Fans will enjoy the Marlins vs. the Philadelphia Phillies in a game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
