United Rentals sells Welding Solutions to Maatwerk Industrial Solutions

As of today, United Rentals has completed the sale of its Welding Solutions business unit to Maatwerk Industrial Solutions. This move enables United Rentals to sharpen its focus on its core business: providing specialised rental solutions. At the same time, the Interlas name returns as an independent company within the Maatwerk Industrial Solutions group, creating new opportunities for both organisations.

Focus on rental

Welding Solutions became part of United Rentals following the acquisition of EQIN | Indu-Tools Group. As United Rentals Welding Solutions, the business served as the Fronius distributor for the Netherlands and Belgium and provided technical expertise and support for a wide range of welding applications. Activities that differ significantly from United Rentals’ core rental business.

"United Rentals is, and will remain, a rental specialist, and that is exactly where we want to invest and grow," said Hendrik Jan Molenaar, Regional Vice President Europe at United Rentals. "When a business unit no longer aligns with our long-term strategic direction, it's important to make the right decisions at the right time. This allows us to remain fully focused on what we do best: delivering specialised rental solutions and continuously improving our rental operations."

The sale of Welding Solutions will not affect the level of service or technical expertise available to customers. "We remain committed to supporting our customers to the highest standards and will continue to work closely with Interlas, sharing knowledge, experience and technical expertise," Molenaar continued. "For customers who rent welding equipment, there will be no change. They can continue to expect the same quality, service and specialist support they rely on today."

Welding Solutions becomes Interlas once again

As part of Maatwerk Industrial Solutions, Interlas will join a group of specialist businesses operating within the welding industry, including PRRE Lastechniek (Enschede), Cardietech Lastechniek (Zelhem) and Slijpschijvenwinkel.nl.

This transition allows Interlas to fully focus on its core activities and further strengthen its position as a specialist knowledge partner within the welding sector.
