Self-Contained or Container-Based?

Hire portable toilets and ablution blocks from United Rentals to keep your crew and visitors catered for where permanent facilities aren’t available. Here’s how the two types compare:

Container-Based Ablution Blocks

The 10ft and 20ft ablution blocks are container units that connect to sewer, or run with optional waste tanks where there’s no sewer access. You get multiple toilets in one unit, up to four toilets and a urinal on the 20ft Toilet Block, and selected 20ft models add showers, hot water or a change room. They suit larger crews, longer projects and sites that need showers or a place to change.

Self-Contained Toilets

Portaloo and trailer mounted toilets work without any plumbing. Each unit carries its own waste tank, so you can place it almost anywhere on site. A Portaloo is quick to position, and the trailer mounted toilet is towed into place with no crane needed. Each unit is a single toilet, so hire more than one for a larger crew. They suit small crews, events, remote sites and worksites that keep moving.

Toilets and Ablutions That Make Site Life Easier

Good site amenities keep your crew comfortable and your project moving. Here’s what you get when you hire from us:

  • No sewer needed. Portaloo and trailer mounted toilets are self-contained, and the container units run with optional waste tanks.
  • Fewer units on site. Choose a 20ft unit with toilets and showers, or toilets and a change room, all in one container.
  • Comfort and privacy. Insulated container units with privacy glass, LED lighting and power outlets on selected models, and hot water on selected units.
  • Moves with your project. The trailer mounted toilet is towed into position with no crane needed, and container units can be repositioned as your needs change.

FAQs

What’s the difference between a Portaloo and an ablution block?

A Portaloo is a compact, self-contained single toilet with its own waste tank. An ablution block is a container unit with multiple toilets, and on some models showers, hot water or a change room. Tell us about your site and we’ll recommend the right one.

Do I need plumbing on site?

Not always. Portaloo and trailer mounted toilets are self-contained. The 10ft and 20ft container units connect to sewer where it’s available, or run with optional waste tanks on sites without it.

Can I hire showers?

Yes. The 20ft Ablution (3 Pan, 2 Shower Blocks & 1 Urinal) includes two showers, and the 20ft Ablution (Male & Female) includes toilet and shower facilities. Hot water is included on selected units.

How many toilets do I need?

It depends on your crew size and the requirements for your site. Tell us how many people will be on site and we’ll recommend a setup.

Can I hire for a short period?

Yes. Hire for a day, a week or the length of a long-term project.

Are your toilets and ablution units compliant?

Our toilets and ablution units are supplied to suit relevant Australian standards and WHS requirements. Let us know your site requirements and we’ll confirm the right setup.
