Adelaide expansion boosts United Rentals’ capacity to meet future customer demand
Sydney, NSW - June 19, 2026
United Rentals, the world’s largest rental company, is expanding its Adelaide operation to meet demand driven by South Australia’s booming infrastructure development and large-scale commercial projects.
The larger facility at 79 Helps Road, Burton, brings together United Rental’s full fleet of General Rental equipment with its Trench Safety Division, which offers a comprehensive range of shoring, propping, and pumping products.
“We have increased our footprint significantly and expanded our services and equipment offering to match the scale of new and upcoming developments in Adelaide and the wider region,” said Neil Littlewood, Regional Vice President United Rentals Australia / New Zealand.
“It allows United Rentals’ to be a one stop shop for our customers and a single-source provider to the many projects underway and in the pipeline across the region.”
The new branch also supports United Rental’s mobile storage branch in Adelaide which remains standalone.
Supporting existing, new and future customers
In South Australia, United Rental’s supports a broad range of industries including civil infrastructure, major road and rail upgrades, utilities, the rapidly expanding telecommunications sector, and construction projects shaping Adelaide’s urban growth.
The new branch will also strengthen support for the mining and resources sector, providing equipment for mineral exploration and ongoing site maintenance, while meeting immediate demand for shoring, propping and traffic management solutions across civil works projects.
“We’re now a total worksite partner - from scissor lifts and telehandlers for above-groundwork through to earthmoving equipment, modular spaces and solar-powered Site Hubs.”
The expanded capability ensures United Rentals’ can meet current customer demand while preparing for the significant pipeline of utilities, renewable energy and Defence Force projects expected through to 2030.
“We can service increased demand across a wide range of industries, from building and construction, infrastructure, and government, through to retail, agri-business, intermodal and providing modular spaces and portable buildings for the city’s busy events calendar.”
Meeting customer needs
Mr Littlewood said the expansion was customer-driven to meet their needs of providing a one stop shop for rental equipment.
“We’ve listened to our customers, and they want all their hire equipment needs in one place,” he said.
“We can now provide an integrated solution meaning customers no longer need to coordinate multiple vendors. We manage the safety of the excavation and the full site needs of the project simultaneously.”
Key to the expansion was ensuring the local team were fully trained across all new product lines to maintain a high standard of expertise and technical advice.
Mr Littlewood said Adelaide was unique because of its tight-knit industry community and the distinctive geological challenges of the region.
“Projects in South Australia often require highly engineered solutions due to varying soil conditions, and our local customers really value technical expertise and providing the right solution over just hiring a product."
Global reach, national expansion, local expertise
The expansion in South Australia comes as United Rentals opens a new branch in Brisbane and expands in Perth. The company is also enhancing customer services with a new United Rentals’ website launching in 2026 and the company’s Total Control fleet and worksite management platform available as a mobile app.
Mr Littlewood said, “key to this is United Rentals’ drive to provide a one stop shop for customers' rental requirements and in our Adelaide branches there will be a greater range of equipment available in the region than ever before.
As the world’s largest equipment rental company, United Rentals combines global reach with local knowledge, expertise and an extensive range of products to meet customers’ specific needs.
“We build true partnerships between our local teams and their customers. They know their local market best and understand what customers want, which means they tailor solutions to get the job done effectively, on time and on budget,” says Mr Littlewood.
“Backed by United Rental’s global network, our local Adelaide team bring deep industry knowledge and hands-on experience to every project."
