FAQs
How long do scissor lift batteries last?

Scissor lift batteries can last several years with proper maintenance and efficient equipment use. By removing corrosion and routinely testing and monitoring the equipment, scissor lift batteries can last up to three times longer than improperly maintained equipment.

Do I need a license to operate a scissor lift?

Yes, OSHA requires all scissor lift operators to be trained and certified before operating a scissor lift. Scissor lift risks include falling, tipping and colliding with obstacles. Therefore, every operator needs to know how to use the controls safely, inspect the scissor lift and complete basic functions before working on the jobsite. Sign up for one of our scissor lift certification courses today to receive hands-on equipment training.

How often do scissor lifts need to be inspected?

Routine inspections are of vital importance for scissor lift safety and maintenance. How you use the equipment determines how often inspections are needed. Every 90 days or 150 hours of use, whichever comes first, is the standard for lift inspections. Users should not allow 13 months to pass since the last inspection. United Rentals offers equipment service and inspection of owned equipment to keep your fleet maintained.
