FAQs
How much does a Genie boom lift weigh?

Depending on the size and typical application, Genie boom lifts can range from 2,500 pounds to 16,000 pounds. Compact indoor boom lifts are on the smaller end of the range, and large, heavy-duty outdoor boom lifts can weigh almost 8 tons. Check the specifications on the product pages to see specific weights.

Do you need a license to operate a boom lift?

Yes, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires all boom lift operators be trained and certified before operating a boom lift. Operating boom lifts involves safety risks such as falling, tipping and colliding with obstacles. Therefore, every operator needs to know how to use the controls safely, inspect the lift and complete basic functions before working on the jobsite. Sign up for a United Rentals boom lift certification course today.

How wide is a boom lift?

Boom lift widths depend on the size and typical application. Most boom lift platforms are wide enough to fit up to two operators for work. Boom lift chassis can be compact enough to fit through service doors for indoor maintenance or repair. Other heavier-duty outdoor boom lifts are larger to be more stable on rough terrain. Check the specifications on the product pages to see specific widths.
