Singleton McAllister Appointed to United Rentals Board of Directors

United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI) today announced that Singleton McAllister has joined the company's board of directors, effective immediately.

Bradley Jacobs, chairman of United Rentals, said, "I'm delighted to welcome Ms. McAllister to our board. Her wealth of experience will serve United Rentals and its shareholders well."

Singleton McAllister has been a partner in the law firm of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal LLP since 2003. She is based in Washington, D.C., and is a member of the firm's public law and policy strategies group and Chair of the firm's Corporate Diversity Counseling Group. From 2001 to 2003, Ms. McAllister was a partner at the Washington law firm of Patton Boggs LLP. Prior to entering private practice, she served for five years as the general counsel for the United States Agency for International Development. Ms. McAllister is also a director of Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE: LNT).
