Water-cooled chillers are an essential part of many industrial and commercial cooling systems. They come in a variety of sizes and types, making them versatile for many different applications. Our chillers are perfect for a variety of applications including process water systems or temporary cooling for construction sites, warehouses and industrial applications. Browse our selection or learn more about water-cooled chillers below.
The water-cooled chiller unit contains a compressor, condenser, evaporator and water tank. The water tank provides a means of storing chilled water until it is needed for the cooling process. The chillers use water to absorb heat from a process or machine, then use a refrigerant to transfer that heat to the atmosphere. This allows businesses to keep their equipment running at the correct temperature, even in hot environments.
The size of your chiller selection will depend on the nature of your task needs and the size of the facility your business is operating in. However, one of the most common sizes is the 500-ton water-cooled chiller. This chiller can remove up to 500 tons of heat per hour and comes equipped with computerized thermostat control as well as flexible hoses, pipes and adapters to accommodate your structure as-is or to create a new structure. The 500-ton water-cooled chiller is great for medium to large industrial spaces. For the most accurate information on sizing, consult your jobsite manager, or feel free to contact your local United Rentals branch to speak with a specialist.
It depends on what your service needs are. Water-cooled chillers do tend to last 5 to 10 years longer than air-cooled chillers given that they're typically installed indoors and operate at a lower level of fluid condenser pressure. However, to select the best option for you, assess equipment output versus supplementary product consumption (ex. machine fluids and water) and maintenance costs.
